Today I present my first R package (not yet released to CRAN): NSAPI1.

This package provides bindings to the dat API of the Nederlandse Spoorwegen (Dutch Railways) and is part of my effort to build a shiny application that analyses delay information to predict the likelihood of being delayed when travelling on certain segments.

The package helps R developers to collect information via the API and store them into data.frames (tables in R), making them accessible to the powers of dplyr and ggplot2.

I modelled the package after the packages developed by Hadley Wickham2 and the book he wrote on this subject3. I'm planning to develop more packages and wanted to learn how to create proper R packages. There is, of course, still plenty of work left for this package, but the core functionality works - I think.
